Each year, students and volunteers play a vital role in advancing the mission of the Mercer on Mission Orthopaedic & Prosthetic Program. At its core, however, are the dedicated team members who provide continuity, expertise, and leadership - making the program’s lasting impact possible.

    FOUNDER OF MERCER ON MISSION OPP

    Equipped with a dream to help the people of his country, Dr. Hà Võ started the Mercer on Mission Orthopaedic & Prosthetic Program in 2009. Through his leadership, it has grown into a multidisciplinary initiative that combines engineering, medicine, and service, providing both life-changing care for patients and hands-on learning opportunities for students.

  • DR. CRAIG MCMAHAN

    MERCER ON MISSION DIRECTOR

    Approached by Mercer University in 2006 and asked to create a program that extends the University’s mission to have its students major in changing the world beyond just Macon, Georgia, Dr. Craig McMahan founded the Mercer on Mission Program, laying the groundwork for every mission trip since.

  • DR. EDWARD O'BRIEN

    FACULTY LEAD

    A professor of Biomedical Engineering at Mercer University, Dr. Edward O’Brien trains students in the fundamentals of prosthetic fitting, including above-knee, below-knee, and transradial devices. His mentorship equips students with the skills necessary to provide high-quality prosthetic care.

    As a faculty lead for the Mercer On Mission Orthopaedic and Prosthetic Program, Trung Lê plays a key role in both student prosthetic training and clinical fitting expertise, helping prepare students during training and fitting complex patient cases in the field.

    FACULTY LEAD

    As a faculty lead for the Mercer On Mission Orthopaedic and Prosthetic Program, Bích Nguyễn’s focus is on orthopaedic clinical care - evaluating and treating patients, assisting with the administration of injections and medications, and supporting overall patient management in the clinic.

    PROSTHETIC TECHNICIANS

    Natives of Vietnam and trained in clinical fitting, Du and Đủ ensure the continuity of care year-round, maintaining clinic operations when student teams are not on site. With extensive experience and technical expertise, they aid in the program’s long-term impact in local communities.
